The authors have made a critical analysis of data on the molecular genetic mechanisms of occurrence of late forms of acne. They have analyzed the nature of signaling and metabolic pathways the impairments of which lead to the occurrence of pathological processes characteristic of acne, its late forms in particular. A possible role of different elements of the androgen system in the emergence of acne and their association with the gene regulatory systems of lipid metabolism in the skin cells are discussed.
