The paper considers the pathogenesis of cellulite in the light of estrogen-induced adipose tissue changes. Two major groups of factors influencing the characteristics, extent, and rate of manifestation of local lipodystrophy in the subcutaneous fat of the female hips and buttocks are identified. A novel approach to its correction is proposed.
